Welcome to Camp NanoTech 2009!

Nanotube     A carbon nanotube

There are many educational summer programs for bright high school students, but only Camp NanoTech offers you the chance to learn about an emerging field of science and engineering - nanotechnology.  At Camp NanoTech, you will learn how researchers are designing ultra-small materials with unique properties.  Nanotechnology will allow us to make computers faster, medicines more effective, car and airplane parts stronger, higher quality consumer goods, and many applications that we haven't even thought of yet.  If you've never heard of nanotechnology, Camp NanoTech is a great way to find out what it's all about.

Don't worry.  Although this is "cutting edge" science, Camp NanoTech is designed for high school students.  The camp instructors have many years of experience teaching nanotechnology to college students, mostly freshmen, and they understand how to make complicated information easy to understand.  You won't sit around listening to college lectures - you won't sit around much at all.  You'll build models of carbon nanotubes, make gold and magnetite nanoparticles in the laboratory, look at atoms using a scanning tunneling micrscope and lots of other activities.  If you are interested in science and engineering, you will have a great time.  Camp NanoTech is a uniquely fun and educational summer experience for high school students.  Enroll today!

How to Enroll in Camp NanoTech

To participate in Camp NanoTech, download a brochure and fill out the enrollment form.  Camp NanoTech is geared for students who have completed high school chemistry or two years of integrated science.  It is a week-long, half-day camp that starts July 20.  Camp NanoTech meets from 8:30 to noon, Monday through Friday, with an optional lunch from noon to 1 pm.  Space is limited and students enroll on a first-come, first-serve basis.  All camp activities are held on Florida Tech's main campus in the Olin Physical Sciences building.  You can view a campus map here.
