2013 Keynote Speaker: Philip F. Deaver, Ed.D.
Philip F. Deaver is the 13th winner of the Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. He is also the author of the short story collection Silent Retreats. He has held fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts and the Bread Loaf Writers Conference. His work, which can be found mostly in literary magazines, has appeared in Prize Stories: The O. Henry Awards and has been recognized in Best American Short Stories and The Pushcart Prize. Recent work has appeared in the Southern Review and the Kenyon Review. Recent nonfiction work has appeared in Fourth Genre, New Madrid, and he has edited a volume of baseball essays entitled Scoring from Second: Writers on Baseball. His poems have appeared in magazines such as The Reaper, Poetry Miscellany, and the Florida Review, and four times have been featured on the website The Writer’s Almanac with Garrison Keillor. Deaver’s poems are collected in a volume entitled How Men Pray. Deaver is Professor of English and Writer in Residence at Rollins College, Winter Park, Fla. He teaches both fiction and poetry in the Spalding University brief-residency Master of Fine Arts program in Louisville, Ky.

About the Creative Writing Institute
The Institute hosts a staff of published authors and professors who will provide a place for writers where they can feel at home and where they can find and express their own voices. The Institute includes a variety of classes and one-time lectures for almost any interest and ability: fiction; novel-writing; poetry; creative nonfiction; journalism; science fiction; graphic novel; historical fiction; writing for the movies; memoirs; and writing for comic books. Registration Information
Online Registration is available.. Early registration is encouraged as enrollment space is limited. Registrants must be 16 years or older as some writing classes may deal with adult situations and subject matter.
Class Prices
Prices are the following: $40 for one-time lecture; $120 for Writers in Residence 3-day classes; $160 for Writers in Residence 4-day classes, and $230 for this year's visiting Featured Writers who teach 4-day classes.
Be sure to check out the Bonus Events, which are free and include a range of participants.
Each class meets for 2 hours per day, a 4-day class is a total of 8 hours. A one time lecturer is taught for two hours on one day only.

Final registration prices depend on how many courses or lectures you register for.
