Travel and Accommodations

Travel Arrangements

The Florida Institute of Technology (Google Maps link) is located near Interstate 95 along the east coast of Florida, five minutes from the Melbourne International Airport (MLB) and about an hour southeast of Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Transportation and tranfer to either the MCO or MLB airports can be conveniently, as well as cheaply, organized with the Melbourne Airport Express shuttle service.

Travelling between Orlando and Melbourne, as well as to other cities around Florida, can easily be arranged via the Greyhound Bus System

The Space Coast Area Transit is a bus system that strictly serves Brevard Country, providing particularly easy access to coastline attractions including: Melbourne Beach, Palm Bay, and Cocoa Beach.

We strongly advise moving around Melbourne via either Uber or Lyft. Uber and Lyft are cellular applications that can easily be downloaded onto any smartphone device, and allow for cheap as well as reliable taxi-like transportation. Please note that both applications require you to enter creditcard / debitcard information to process payments online. In addition, the applications require wifi or cellular data connection to connect with Uber / Lyft drivers around you, as well as to use Location Services to direct drivers to your pick-up location.

Official taxi cab companies are available, although they typically prove more expensive and time-consuming when compared to Uber and Lyft. Nonetheless, below are a few local companies:

Accomodation Arrangements

Despite being officially hosted at the Florida Institute of Technology, a number of ICMCF’s events (such as the Poster Reception) will be held at the beautifully located Crowne Plaza Melbourne-Oceanfront, just 15 minutes away.

While the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place is inland, it is very conveniently located just 7 minutes away from both the Florida Iinstitute of Technology and downtown Melbourne.

Both hotels have room blocks for ICMCF attendees until April 2018. Nonetheless, we advise attendees to make accomodation arrangements as early as possible to avoid any potential issues!

A number of on-campus dormatory rooms will be made available to Student attendees for the duration of the conference. This option typically proves extremely lucrative to students and young professionals because of its affordable pricing and central location. For more information in regards to pricing and booking of these on-campus dormatory rooms, please e-mail the ICMCF Organizing Committee at: icmcf@fit.edu
